picklechess terms of use

These terms apply to picklechess, an online board game operated by Alexander Wheelock. By using picklechess, you agree to these terms and to use the service lawfully and respectfully.

Using the game
You may create rooms, join rooms, play games, use matchmaking, play bots, spectate shared games, and invite others to play. Some features may require an account. You are responsible for activity from your browser, room tokens, shared links, and account session tokens.
Room codes and rejoin tokens are access keys. Shared game links let people view a game; controlling a live game requires the original browser token or the signed-in account that owns a seat.
Accounts, ranked play, and paid services
Accounts use an email address, username, and one-time email codes. You must provide accurate account information and keep access to your email and signed-in browser secure. Usernames may not impersonate others, mislead players, violate rights, or abuse reserved names.
picklechess may refuse, rename, suspend, or delete accounts or usernames that abuse the service, violate these terms, create legal risk, or interfere with the game.
Ranked play and game results
Ranked games and rated bot games affect ratings according to the rules implemented by the service. Ratings, histories, rooms, links, and game records may change, be corrected, become unavailable, or be lost because of bugs, abuse prevention, database issues, deployment changes, or operational decisions.
Do not manipulate ranked play, intentionally exploit bugs, automate abusive play, evade rate limits, or use multiple accounts to create unfair outcomes.
Fair play and acceptable use
Do not attack, overload, scrape, probe, reverse engineer for abuse, bypass access controls, interfere with sockets or server validation, submit malicious input, disrupt other players, impersonate others, or use picklechess for harassment, threats, spam, fraud, gambling, or illegal activity.
External links and no in-app communication
picklechess does not provide in-app chat, direct messages, or player-to-player communication tools. External links, such as Discord or Patreon, are separate services with their own rules and policies.
Support, Patreon, and paid features
picklechess may link to external supporter pages such as Patreon. External support is optional and is governed by the external service's terms unless picklechess separately states otherwise.
picklechess does not currently offer in-app subscriptions or paid premium features. Premium features may be added later. If paid features are offered, the price, renewal terms, cancellation method, refund path, and platform-specific terms shown at purchase will also apply. Future paid features are not gambling, prizes, wagering, or cash-out services.
Privacy
The privacy policy explains what information picklechess handles and how to request account deletion or data deletion. Review it at picklechess privacy.
Ownership and marks
picklechess℠ is a service mark of Alexander Wheelock. The picklechess name, artwork, branding, site design, and original game materials are owned by Alexander Wheelock or used with permission. You may refer to picklechess to discuss, link to, review, or play the game. You may not use the name, branding, or confusingly similar marks to suggest that another product or service is made by, endorsed by, or affiliated with picklechess without permission.
User feedback
If you send ideas, bug reports, balance feedback, or other suggestions, you allow picklechess to use them without obligation to compensate you. You still own any rights you already have in your own original feedback.
Service changes
picklechess is provided as is and as available. The service may change, restart, break, lose data, restrict access, remove features, or stop operating. No particular room, link, account feature, rating, match, result, or game state is guaranteed to remain available.
Disclaimers and liability
Use picklechess only where you are allowed to do so. To the extent permitted by law, picklechess is provided without warranties, and picklechess and Alexander Wheelock are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost ratings, lost access, or inability to use the service.
Termination
You may stop using picklechess at any time. picklechess may limit, suspend, or terminate access if you violate these terms, create risk, or abuse the service.
Changes
These terms may be updated as picklechess changes. Continued use of picklechess after an update means you accept the updated terms.
